soumitssParticipantHi everyone. We need around 2,000 addresses for a CDN expansion and I’m confused by prices. Some offers are quoted per IP in dollars, others in euros, and the RIR seems to matter. Is RIPE significantly more expensive than ARIN or APNIC, and does the region affect geolocation accuracy for content delivery? I’d love to hear how others picked a region and what they actually paid. The CDN will serve mostly users in Germany and Poland, with a smaller footprint in the US. Budget is around 40k, but I can stretch if the deal is clean.

hydrogennParticipantPrices differ by region and block size, and geolocation depends more on geo databases than on the RIR. When I compared, the InterLIR IPv4 marketplace showed special offers with different per-IP prices by RIR, for example an ARIN /19 and an APNIC /16 at lower rates than RIPE /20 to /21 blocks. Those numbers change, so treat them as a snapshot and check the current listings. Decide which geo you need first, then compare prices. Also ask the broker how quickly a geolocation update can be requested. I’d also look at RTT from your main user regions, because cheaper space in a distant geo can hurt performance more than it saves.
