I’m considering seeing a psychiatrist for anxiety and stress-related issues, but my work schedule makes it difficult to attend appointments in person during regular office hours. Because of that, I’ve been looking into telepsychiatry and wondering how common it is among psychiatrists in the Boca Raton area.

When I search online, I see a mix of practices offering virtual visits, in-person appointments, or a combination of both. What I’m not sure about is whether telepsychiatry is typically available for new patients or mainly used for follow-up appointments after you’ve already been seen in person.

I’d also like to know how the experience compares to traditional office visits. If you’ve used telepsychiatry for anxiety, depression, ADHD, or other mental health concerns, did you feel like the psychiatrist was able to properly evaluate and understand what you were dealing with through video appointments?

One reason I’m asking is that this would be my first time seeking psychiatric care, and I don’t want convenience to come at the expense of quality. At the same time, virtual appointments would be much easier for me to fit into my schedule if they’re considered a reasonable option.

I’d appreciate hearing from anyone in the Boca Raton area who has experience with telepsychiatry. Was the process straightforward, and would you choose virtual appointments again if given the choice?
