Guys, need some advice. Planning a trip to Bali with my wife for our anniversary and I want to do something special beyond the usual beach clubs and temple tours. Been reading about private boat charters but honestly have no clue how it works – what a decent day out costs, whether food is included, if you need to book months ahead. The beaches near Seminyak were packed last time we visited and we’d love a day away from crowds. Anyone done this?

Hey there. Honestly the best decision we made on our Bali trip. Skipping the crowded south coast for a day on the water is a completely different experience. We went with Luxury Yacht Rental Bali for a Nusa Penida day trip, about eight hours, and it included snorkeling gear, fishing rods, drinks, snacks and fruit, so no hidden extras once you’re aboard. Manta rays near Penida were the highlight for my wife. Prices run in the tens of millions of rupiah depending on the boat and route, so it isn’t cheap, but split across a couple it’s comparable to a fancy dinner in Europe. Book at least a couple weeks out, decent boats go fast in high season.
