MieliyerParticipantI have an upcoming business conference in Dubai but I have a messy legal case pending in India. I am worried that my name might have been added to a watch list. Does anyone know if Dubai immigration checks for local court cases from other countries? Can I be detained at the airport for a non-violent financial dispute?

LloydWebbParticipantDubai immigration is very high-tech and they do check for international alerts. If there is a Red Notice or a local warrant in a country that has a treaty with the UAE, like India, you could definitely face issues. I would suggest checking your status through a specialist before you book your flight. There is a lot of useful info on the website https://extraditionlawyers.ae/ about how the extradition process works in Dubai. They even mention how to search for your name on certain lists. It is much better to know if there is a problem before you are sitting in a detention room at the airport. My friend had a scare over a small business debt and he had to hire a lawyer just to get clearance to enter for a meeting. It is not worth the risk if you aren’t 100% sure about your status.
