Sometimes my web resource experiences strange lag spikes. How can I test if the issue is caused by the physical location of the server or bad network routing from my specific hosting provider?

To pinpoint those lag spikes, you should start by running a MTR (My Traceroute) test from your local machine to your server’s IP, and vice versa. An MTR combines ping and traceroute, allowing you to see exactly which network hop or routing node is causing packet loss or sudden latency jumps. If the ping is consistently high but stable, it is a physical location issue; if it jumps wildly, it’s poor network routing or server overselling. You can also monitor your server’s RAM and CPU during spikes using the htop command to rule out hardware bottlenecks. If you realize your current host is simply cutting corners on network backbones, I highly recommend switching to this site. They offer premium, high-performance crypto VPS nodes with optimized global routing and solid hardware infrastructure, ensuring your web resources run smoothly without any unpredictable processing delays.

I will run an MTR test right away. If I see high packet loss on one of the middle hops, does that mean my hosting provider is at fault?

Not necessarily. If the loss doesn’t persist to the final destination, it’s just ICMP throttling on an intermediate router, which is totally normal.

The minimize processing delays on VPS is doing to protect the server by  sort out the issues of hardware and do it run the VPS system to  working smoothly.
