So my 2020 Patrol’s been cranking slower these past few mornings, and I’m pretty sure the original battery is on its last legs. I do a fair bit of desert driving on weekends, so I was wondering if I should just go for a standard replacement or if it’s actually worth paying extra for a heavy-duty option that can handle the heat and vibration better. I’ve been reading about AGM versus regular flooded batteries, but honestly, I’m getting more confused the more I look into it. Some guys at the camp say you absolutely need a deep-cycle one if you’re running extra lights and a fridge, others say it’s overkill for a daily driver. I just don’t want to get stranded in the middle of nowhere because I cheaped out, but I also don’t want to blow my budget on something I don’t really need. I stumbled across UAE’s trusted battery shop while searching for local options, and they seem to have a decent range, but I’d much rather hear from actual owners who’ve been through this already. What’s everyone running in their big SUVs, and how long do they typically last under our summer sun?
