I came out of my building this morning and found a small dark spot on the ground right under the front of my car. It was about the size of a coaster, and it was not there yesterday. I have a Range Rover Evoque, five years old, and I park it in the same place every night, so I know it is new. My first thought was oil, but when I touched it with a tissue it looked a little reddish brown, and that made me even more confused. I do not know if that means something worse. My brother says it could just be water from the air conditioner, since it has been so humid lately, but this did not feel like water at all. It was slightly sticky. A neighbor who always works on his own cars told me to put a piece of white cardboard under the engine overnight so I can see exactly where it drips from and what color it is. I liked that idea, and I will try it tonight. While looking for answers, I read an old post where someone said a proper Range Rover Repair workshop can usually tell what a leak is just by looking at the color and the spot, and that it is better to show them the cardboard than to guess yourself. That made me feel a bit better. Still, I have a few questions. Is it safe to drive to work while the leak is there, or should I leave the car at home until someone checks it? I do not see any warning light, and the temperature looks normal. Should I check the fluid levels myself, and if yes, how do I do it without making a mess? I am scared I will touch something hot or open the wrong cap. Also, can a small leak turn into a big problem quickly? My service is due in about two months, so I am not sure if I can wait that long. If you had a leak like this, what was the cause and what did you pay to fix it? Please explain in easy words if you can. Thanks a lot for reading.
