Welcome to 'The Icebreaker' , brought to you by Dragonfire Barbell. This is our winter-themed, unsanctioned weightlifting event, built for first-time lifters and anyone looking to experience the fun of competition in a relaxed, supportive environment.
Join your fellow athletes for a day of PRs, good vibes, and community. Whether you’re stepping on the platform for the first time or just want to test your training in front of a crowd, this meet is all about learning, cheering, and celebrating strength together.
Unsanctioned means:
-No weigh-ins -No singlets (unless you want to, of course!) -No USAW membership required
We will be aiming to keep to other rules and regulations, however, such as:
-Judging on press-outs -Use of scorecards -Sticking to the clock -No touching the bar with your feet (yes, its a weird rule, but one we have to deal with...)
Current Start Times (subject to change):
7:30am-7:45am Female Check-in
8:30am-10:30am Female Session
10:00am-10:15am Male Check-in
11:00am-1:00pm Male Session
Some information on what a weightlifting session entails*:
1) Athlete introductions, before a 10 minute clock to count down the start of the snatch session.
2) Three attempts at the snatch.
3) Break before the clean+jerk session (in this case, 5 minutes).
4) Three attempts at the clean+jerk.
5) Medal ceremony for the winners of the session.
*We'll be hosting a seminar to help coaches+handlers closer to the event, in order to get athletes warmed up and ready for their lifts as well as we possibly can!
