The Fargo ABLE Games is the Midwest's all-inclusive test of functional fitness. This charity event celebrates the abilities of all its competitors from the highly skilled athlete to the athlete with special needs. Competitors of all divisions will compete on the floor at the same time in a way to celebrate inclusiveness.

COMPETITION INFORMATION

  • Divisions consist of Rx, Scaled, Novice, Adult Co-Ability, and Student Co-Ability
  • All divisions consist of teams of 2 - with each division having a choice of the same gender or mixed gender partners.
  • Cost is $200 per team of 2 - $100 per person.
  • There will be 5 events and 2 floaters. Events 1, 2, 3, and Floater 1 will be Saturday. Events 4, 5, and Floater 2 will be Sunday.
  • Competition starts Saturday, April 9th, start time TBA.
  • Sunday, April 10th start time TBA.

  • In case of illness or injury, substitute may be considered.

Division Information:

  • Athletes will choose from subdivisions during the registration process.
  • Please choose the level/option that best fits the athlete.
    • Adult general population athletes must choose from Novice, Scaled, or Rx
    • Athletes with special needs must choose from Level A, Level B, Level C, or Level D (see descriptions below).

Division Descriptions:

Rx: Rx means the athlete performs all movements using the prescribed weights and repetitions. The following are the movements athletes will perform in the Rx division.

  • Deadlift: 225/155# for reps
  • Shoulder to overhead:115/75# for reps
  • Medicine Ball Glute Ham Develepor sit-ups 20/14# for reps
  • Double Unders
  • Handstand walk 5ft increments

Scaled: Scaled is a modification of the Rx version, but not necessarily an easier version. It is tailored to fit athletes at this level using their prescribed weights, repetitions, and movements. The following are the movements athletes will perform in the Scaled division.

  • Deadlift: 185/135#
  • Shoulder to overhead: 95/65#
  • Medicine Ball sit-ups 20/14# for reps
  • Single Unders
  • Backward Bear Crawl

Novice: General Physical Preparation, also known as GPP, is the general focus for these athletes, and the weights, repetitions, and movements reflect this.  The following are the movements athletes will perform in the Novice division.

  • 2 Kettlebell Deadlift: 35/25#
  • Shoulder to overhead: 20/10#
  • Sit-ups
  • Box step-ups
  • Alternating dumbbell press and high knees 20/10

Adult Co-Ability: This division is made up of one adult with special needs and one adult with neurotypical abilities aged 18 and older. (See events for specific movement standards)

  • Adult Co-Ability Athlete from General Population: Partner with neurotypical abilities must choose Novice, Scaled, or Rx division.
  • Adult Co-Ability Athlete with Special Needs: Partner with special needs must choose Level A, B, C, or D.
    • Level A: No physical limitations. May require verbal directions for understanding.
    • Level B: No physical limitations. May require verbal directions, visual cueing, and/or hand-over-hand assist (physical prompting) for understanding.
    • Level C-Upper Body Use Only: Physical limitations such as limited to no leg or lower body control. May require verbal directions and visual cueing for understanding.
    • Level C- Lower Body Use Only: Physical limitations such as limited to no arm or upper body control, lack of core control, etc. May require verbal directions and visual cueing for understanding.
    • Level D-Upper Body Use Only: Physical limitations such as limited to no leg or lower body control. May require verbal directions and visual cueing for understanding.
    • Level D- Lower Body Use Only: Physical limitations such as limited to no arm or upper body control, lack of core control, etc. May require verbal directions and visual cueing for understanding.

Student Co-Ability: This division is made up of one student with special needs and one student from the general population both in 7th-12th grade (See events for specific movement standards)

  • Student Co-Ability Athlete from General Population: Neurotypical partner to student with special needs. This partner must choose Student division.
  • Student Co-Ability Athlete with Special Needs: Partner with special needs must choose Level A, B, C, or D.
    • Level A: No physical limitations. May require verbal directions for understanding.
    • Level B: No physical limitations. May require verbal directions, visual cueing, and/or hand-over-hand assist (physical prompting) for understanding.
    • Level C-Upper Body Use Only: Physical limitations such as limited to no leg or lower body control. May require verbal directions and visual cueing for understanding.
    • Level C-Lower Body Use Only: Physical limitations such as limited to no arm or upper body control, lack of core control, etc. May require verbal directions and visual cueing for understanding.
    • Level D-Upper Body Use Only: Physical limitations such as limited to no leg or lower body control. May require verbal directions and visual cueing for understanding.
    • Level D-Lower Body Use Only: Physical limitations such as limited to no arm or upper body control, lack of core control, etc. May require verbal directions and visual cueing for understanding.
