NORTH DAKOTA STRONGEST MAN & WOMAN VIII

APRIL 2ND, 2022

EVENT RULES and INFORMATION

EVENT 1 – YOKE PRESS - Athletes will start with hands-on the implement and can wear any protective equipment they choose. Athletes will have 60 seconds to press as many reps with the yoke as possible and can use any press style they want to complete the press. The judge will give a down command, feet must come square, arms locked out, and head through to get a completed rep and down command. An athlete can choose to set the yoke down every rep or hold onto it at chest height before pressing again. Rep must come down below the chin before yoke going back up. Most reps completed wins.  Yoke will be a regular rogue yoke and weighs 185lbs empty. *We are thinking of an alternative plan if the empty yoke is too heavy for the lightweight women, master’s women, and novice women.

EVENT 2 - CAR DEADLIFT – Athlete will have 60 seconds to deadlift as many reps with the car as possible. Athlete will be strapped in ready to go prior to deadlifting. Athlete can use any protective equipment they want including a suit, straps, and can go no shoes if they want. The style of car is TBD and will be announced at a later date. Athlete will be giving a down command when rep is locked out, when bar goes down, the judge will give a quick up command when the car deadlift frame touches the floor. *For some classes, lightweight women, master’s women, and novice women the handles may be elevated more. We will test it and go from there.  Handles will be a side handle pick.

EVENT 3 – FRAME CARRY FOR MAX DISTANCE – Athletes will start hands on the frame at the starting point. Frame will start behind the line, and athletes will carry down a 50-foot course back and forth as many times as they can to gain the most distance as possible. Frame needs to just cross the line on either end, stop, drop the frame, turn around, re-pick and go back down the 50 foot course. Athlete will not be allowed to try turn the frame while reaching the other end, they must set it down and re-pick. All protective equipment is allowed, except no straps. IF the frame is dropped inside the 50 foot course, the time will stop and a distance will be taking from there. Let me say that again in a different way, no drops allowed within the 50 foot course, you can only drop the frame at the end when coming back down the course. Max distance within a 60 second time limit.

EVENT 4 - ** CAR YOKE – Athlete will start the car yoke bumper at the line and go down a 50-foot course. When front of the car yoke crosses the finish line the time will stop. There is a yoke-style bar inside the car and not the car yoke straps. The yoke height will be picked prior or the comp or the day before at weigh in, that details is TBD. Athletes can wear any protective equipment they choose and a spotter will be near to help the athlete get in and out of the car. If Car yoke was not carried to the finish line, a distance will be kept. *We are thinking of an alternative plan if the car yoke is too heavy for the lightweight women, master’s women and novice women.

EVENT 5 – SANDBAG OVER BAR – Athlete will pick a stone from the ground and put it over the yoke. Once stone is over the yoke, a spotter will push the stone back to you so you can repeat the stone over the yoke. Athletes will have 60 seconds to put stone over bar for as many reps as possible. All classes will be at 48" yoke height!

** If car yoke is not completely ready, we have a backup event set aside and can announce that when the time is ready.

** if there is not 5+ athletes minimum in the novice and masters classes that class might be subject to go into the open class.

** Pro classes need 10 minimum for the winner to become a pro

** The car yoke height and yoke OHP pick height will be chosen either the day before or the morning of. TBD

** Also the women novice, women masters and women lightweight may have a regular yoke vs car yoke and smaller yoke or alternate press event. TBD as working on equipment now.
